There was a worn and weathered sign that said "Welcome to Nowhere".

Sounded like the perfect place to drown the demons that had been chasing him all day.

He looked a little lost walking through those swingin' doors.

'All I want right now is to forget...' he thought and asked the barkeep for a whiskey. After downing a few, he sat in a corner, wishing her memory away.

'I'm haunted by your smile and longin' for your touch...' His eyes went kind of misty with whispers of regret as a lone tear slowly slid down his unshaved cheek.

No matter how far he traveled, no matter how long he stayed away, memories of her always seemed to find him. When they came calling, he'd close his eyes and drift away to another place in another time when she could have been his.

It was yesterday, again inside his mind, as thoughts of her ran wild. She'd begged and pleaded with him to stay, but he knew deep down he could never give her what she needed, so he went away.

He could still see the tears in her eyes as he had turned and said good-bye. That was the last time he would ever see her.

Since then, he'd spent years drifting from town to town trying to out run her memory hoping and praying for the day when he'd wake up and her memory wouldn't stand in his way.

Pouring himself another shot, he lifted his glass and offered up a silent salute, 'Here's hoping I leave you behind in Nowhere...'
